Scope and Topics

GTIR welcomes original empirical research articles, computational modeling studies, case histories, and comprehensive reviews across geotechnical engineering and geo-technology. Key thematic areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Advanced Soil & Rock Mechanics: Unsaturated soil mechanics, constitutive modeling of geomaterials, dynamic soil-structure interaction, rock mass characterization, and cyclic loading behavior.

  • Digital Geotechnics & Computational Modeling: Geotechnical digital twins, finite element and discrete element modeling (FEM/DEM), machine learning for subsurface characterization, and big data in geotechnical risk prediction.

  • Innovative Geo-Materials & Geosynthetics: Smart geotextiles, bio-mediated soil improvement (e.g., MICP), eco-friendly binders, recycled aggregates, and high-performance geosynthetic barriers.

  • Geotechnical Monitoring & Sensor Technologies: Fiber-optic sensing (FBG), IoT-driven subsurface monitoring, LiDAR and UAV remote sensing for terrain stability, and automated early warning systems.

  • Geo-Environmental Engineering & Geohazards: Slope stability and landslide mitigation, seismic geotechnics, coastal erosion control, carbon sequestration in geological formations, and climate-resilient foundation design.

  • Underground Infrastructure & Tunnelling: Deep excavations, trenchless technology, tunnel boring and convergence modeling, ground improvement for subterranean transit, and buried utility resilience.
