GeoTech Innovation Review (GTIR) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to publishing pioneering research, technological breakthroughs, and advanced computational methodologies across geotechnical engineering, applied geosciences, subsurface engineering, and geo-environmental systems. In an era shaped by complex urban subterranean expansion, environmental vulnerability, and climate-induced hazards, GTIR serves as an authoritative platform for geotechnical engineers, engineering geologists, rock mechanics specialists, and geodata scientists. The journal prioritizes scholarship that integrates smart materials, sensor networks, data-driven computational modeling, and sustainable geo-construction practices to enhance the safety, resilience, and sustainability of civil and earth structures.
GTIR welcomes original empirical research articles, computational modeling studies, case histories, and comprehensive reviews across geotechnical engineering and geo-technology. Key thematic areas include, but are not limited to:
Advanced Soil & Rock Mechanics: Unsaturated soil mechanics, constitutive modeling of geomaterials, dynamic soil-structure interaction, rock mass characterization, and cyclic loading behavior.
Digital Geotechnics & Computational Modeling: Geotechnical digital twins, finite element and discrete element modeling (FEM/DEM), machine learning for subsurface characterization, and big data in geotechnical risk prediction.
Innovative Geo-Materials & Geosynthetics: Smart geotextiles, bio-mediated soil improvement (e.g., MICP), eco-friendly binders, recycled aggregates, and high-performance geosynthetic barriers.
Geotechnical Monitoring & Sensor Technologies: Fiber-optic sensing (FBG), IoT-driven subsurface monitoring, LiDAR and UAV remote sensing for terrain stability, and automated early warning systems.
Geo-Environmental Engineering & Geohazards: Slope stability and landslide mitigation, seismic geotechnics, coastal erosion control, carbon sequestration in geological formations, and climate-resilient foundation design.
Underground Infrastructure & Tunnelling: Deep excavations, trenchless technology, tunnel boring and convergence modeling, ground improvement for subterranean transit, and buried utility resilience.
GeoTech Innovation Review (GTIR) is published triannually (3 issues per year: April, August, and December), utilizing an online-first continuous publishing pipeline to facilitate rapid editorial turnaround and immediate global open-access dissemination.
To uphold academic integrity and scientific rigor, GTIR enforces a strict double-anonymous peer review protocol. All submitted manuscripts undergo preliminary editorial screening to assess thematic alignment, originality, methodological rigor, and plagiarism thresholds (conforming to COPE standards). Manuscripts passing desk review are evaluated by at least two independent international experts specializing in geotechnical engineering, engineering geology, or geo-environmental sciences. Review criteria center on theoretical depth, experimental/computational validity, data reproducibility, clarity of presentation, and practical engineering relevance.
Mission Statement: "The mission of GeoTech Innovation Review is to advance global subsurface science and geotechnical engineering by publishing rigorous, innovative, and data-driven research, bridging theoretical geomechanics with cutting-edge engineering technologies, and providing open-access insights to build resilient, sustainable infrastructure worldwide."
