About the Journal
|
Journal of Smart Engineering Systems (JSES) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to publishing cutting-edge theoretical advancements, algorithmic architectures, and practical engineering implementations across the spectrum of intelligent and autonomous engineering systems. Positioned at the intersection of traditional engineering disciplines, artificial intelligence, robotics, edge computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT), JSES serves as a premier scholarly forum for mechanical, electrical, systems, computer, and industrial engineers. The journal prioritizes research that investigates the integration of smart sensors, adaptive control mechanisms, embedded intelligence, and cyber-physical architectures to design, optimize, and operate resilient and autonomous engineering systems.
JSES invites original empirical research papers, computational and physical modeling studies, design methodologies, and critical state-of-the-art reviews. Core thematic domains include, but are not limited to:
Cyber-Physical Systems & Industrial IoT (IIoT): Embedded intelligence, edge computing for industrial automation, smart sensor networks, digital twins for complex machinery, and wireless industrial communications.
Intelligent Robotics & Autonomous Control: Multi-robot coordination, autonomous navigation, adaptive control systems, human-robot collaboration (cobots), and soft robotics.
Smart Manufacturing & Industry 4.0/5.0: Predictive maintenance, real-time quality assurance via computer vision, additive manufacturing optimization, smart supply chain hardware, and energy-efficient production workflows.
AI & Machine Learning in Systems Engineering: Physics-informed machine learning, reinforcement learning for system control, fault detection and diagnostics, and evolutionary optimization of complex mechanical/electrical systems.
Smart Infrastructure & Energy Systems: Microgrids, smart energy harvesting and management, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), smart structural health monitoring, and resilient civil-mechanical systems.
Journal of Smart Engineering Systems (JSES) is published triannually (3 issues per year: April, August, and December), operating an online-first continuous publishing model to ensure rapid peer review turnaround and immediate global open-access dissemination.
To safeguard academic rigor, technical soundness, and engineering reproducibility, JSES enforces a strict double-anonymous peer review protocol. All submitted manuscripts undergo initial editorial screening by the Editorial Board to evaluate thematic alignment, technical originality, structural completeness, and plagiarism thresholds (conforming to COPE standards). Submissions passing desk review are assessed by at least two independent international experts in smart systems, control theory, robotics, or relevant engineering fields. Review criteria focus on technical novelty, mathematical/experimental validity, reproducibility of results, clarity of exposition, and demonstrable engineering impact.
The mission of Journal of Smart Engineering Systems is to accelerate the development and deployment of intelligent technologies across engineering disciplines by publishing rigorous, peer-reviewed, and forward-looking research, bridging foundational control and computing theories with practical engineering implementations, and providing open-access knowledge to create adaptive, resilient, and sustainable smart systems worldwide.
