Journal of Integrated Islamic Knowledge Systems (JIIKS) is an international, peer-reviewed, open-access journal dedicated to publishing advanced theoretical, empirical, and methodological research at the confluence of classical Islamic scholarship (turāth) and contemporary disciplines across social sciences, humanities, natural sciences, technology, and governance. Grounded in the paradigm of the integration and contextualization of knowledge (islamisasi dan integrasi ilmu), JIIKS provides an authoritative academic forum for Islamic studies scholars, epistemologists, social scientists, ethicists, and interdisciplinary researchers. The journal prioritizes scholarship that critically synthesizes Islamic ontological, epistemological, and axiological frameworks with modern empirical sciences to address contemporary global challenges and foster systemic intellectual reform.

Scope and Topics

JIIKS welcomes original empirical research articles, critical conceptual frameworks, philosophical treatises, and systematic literature reviews across the spectrum of integrated Islamic knowledge. Core thematic areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Islamic Epistemology & Integration of Knowledge: Methodological frameworks for integrating revelational (naqli) and rational/empirical ('aqli) sciences, contemporary epistemological critiques, and the philosophy of Islamic science.

  • Integrated Social Sciences & Humanities: Islamic psychology and psychotherapy (tazkiyat al-nafs and mental health), Islamic sociology, anthropology of Muslim societies, integrated pedagogy and Islamic educational philosophy.

  • Islamic Economics, Finance & Applied Ethics: Epistemological foundations of Islamic economics, ethical finance architectures, contemporary maqāṣid al-sharī‘ah applications in socio-economic development, and corporate governance.

  • Bioethics, Science & Frontier Technologies: Islamic perspectives on medical bioethics, genetic engineering, artificial intelligence ethics, environmental stewardship (khilāfah and green Islam), and digital humanities.

  • Contemporary Jurisprudence, Law & Public Policy: Modern legal hermeneutics, ijtihad in contemporary sociopolitical contexts, human rights frameworks in Islamic jurisprudence, and governance systems.

Publication Frequency

Journal of Integrated Islamic Knowledge Systems (JIIKS) is published triannually (3 issues per year: April, August, and December), operating an online-first continuous publishing model to ensure rapid editorial turnaround and global open-access dissemination.

Peer Review Process

To maintain international academic rigor, doctrinal accuracy, and methodological precision, JIIKS enforces a strict double-anonymous peer review protocol. All submitted manuscripts undergo preliminary editorial screening to assess thematic alignment, originality, methodological soundness, citation accuracy of primary sources, and plagiarism thresholds (adhering to COPE standards). Manuscripts passing desk review are evaluated by at least two independent international experts specializing in Islamic studies, integrated science methodologies, or relevant applied subdisciplines. Review criteria center on theoretical depth, methodological rigor, balance between classical text critique and modern scientific analysis, clarity of exposition, and practical relevance to contemporary knowledge systems.

Mission Statement

The mission of Journal of Integrated Islamic Knowledge Systems is to advance global scholarship on the integration of Islamic thought and contemporary sciences by publishing rigorous, peer-reviewed research, bridging classical wisdom with modern intellectual inquiry, and providing open-access knowledge to foster holistic, ethical, and transformative knowledge systems worldwide.
